Why direct links?
Direct download links skip the Google Drive preview page and take users straight to the file download.
This reduces friction, improves user experience, and avoids extra UI that can confuse non-technical users.
If you’re sharing files publicly or embedding downloads in docs/websites, direct links are faster and cleaner.
Fewer clicks: One tap opens the download dialog.
Consistent UX: No Drive toolbar, comments, or preview distractions.
Better conversions: Perfect for landing pages and newsletters where every click matters.
Flexible output: Copy as plain URLs, Markdown for READMEs, or HTML for websites.
Privacy-friendly: Conversion runs in your browser—no uploads or servers involved.
Note: The file’s Drive share permissions still apply. For public sharing, set the file to
“Anyone with the link.” Otherwise recipients may see a permission request instead of a download.
